Are you interested in joining my team, and undertaking a research degree with me?

There are lots of opportunities, and great scholarships available at UNSW Canberra to competitive students (AU$35000/annum stipend). The current application rounds are:
  • Deadline of July 9 for domestic scholarships to begin in late 2021
  • Deadline of August 27 for domestic and international scholarships to commence in 2022

Below are some potential research topics, however please reach out to discuss others.

Attribution of impacts caused by extreme events to climate change

Exploring multivariate/dynamical attribution of extreme events

Addressing and reducing event attribution uncertainty via methodological approaches

End-to-end attribution assessments of climate extremes

Attribution of long-term trends in climate averages and extremes

Deconstructing the relative roles of dynamical and anthropogenic drivers of heatwaves and other climate extremes

Do finer resolution models improve our understanding and future projections of heatwaves? why/why not?

How does climate change shape the human health impacts caused by heatwaves or other extreme events?

Quantifying the role of internal climate variability on near- and far- term changes in heatwaves

Future changes in the risk of extreme events

Marine heatwave changes and interactions
